Sapaio Bolgheri Superiore 2016 - Sapaio Estate
Sapaio Bolgheri Superiore 2016 - Sapaio Estate
"Sapaio" Toscana Igt is a red wine produced in Tuscany. After the manual harvest, the must obtained from pressing is left to macerate for a long time on the skins and the subsequent refinement, lasting 18 months, takes place in French oak barriques. Before being put on the market, Toscana Sapaio is refined for 12 months in the bottle. Bright ruby red in the glass, the nose is intense and elegant with hints of berries, plum, leather, Mediterranean scrub and sweet spices. Full-bodied and elegant, in the mouth it is soft and round with a long and persistent finish.
Sapaio Farm
The Podere Sapaio company was founded by the current owner Massimo Piccin. Located in Tuscany, on the border between Castagneto Carducci and Bibbona, it can currently count on an extension of approximately 25 hectares of vineyards. The company is run following a philosophy that combines innovation and experimentation. In the vineyard, the plants grow on different types of soil, composed of sand, clay and pebbles, but above all they are cared for and raised with the utmost respect for nature, the environment and the ecosystem, for which the company is currently in organic conversion and is managed in order to obtain certification. With over 100 thousand bottles produced annually, the two wines that are currently produced are curated by the oenologist Carlo Ferrini: both Bordeaux blends, they interpret each single vintage differently, differentiating themselves in terms of origin, selection and degree of ripeness of the grapes. The names "Volpolo" and "Sapaio" recall two ancient Tuscan vines, volpola and sapaia, and were chosen to highlight the local origin of the products, starting from their name. The crown, instead, symbol of the company, wants to be a tribute to the nobility of the wine and the territory, fully respected in the work carried out.
