Riesling Dry Qba 2019 - Dr. Loosen
Dr. Loosen Riesling is produced from the estate's vineyards, located in the Moselle, an area famous throughout the world for its extraordinary vocation for the production of Rhine Riesling. Dr. Loosen is also a true reference for this category of wines and with this product it wants to represent the most classic and comprehensible characteristics of what a Riesling made in this area can offer. Composed of pure Rhine Riesling grapes, carefully selected during the manual harvest, this wine ferments and ages exclusively in steel in order to fully preserve the freshness of the fruit. It has a straw yellow color.
Dr. Loosen
The Dr. Loosen winery has been in the family for more than 200 years. When Ernst Loosen took over in 1988, he realized that with ungrafted vines averaging 60 years of age in prime vineyards in the Middle Mosel, he had the raw material to create wines of stunning intensity and world class. To do this, Ernst drastically reduced the harvest and decided to use only a moderate amount of organic fertilizer. The vines have ideal exposure to the sun to achieve perfect ripeness. Cool nights, even in midsummer, maintain the characteristic acidity of the grapes, which is essential for a clean and lively Riesling. The river reflects the sun's rays and retains the heat, thus helping the grapes to ripen and protecting the vines from frost. The rocky slate soil and numerous rock outcrops also retain the heat of the day and ensure full ripeness. A thin topsoil forces the vines to dig deep into the soil for nutrients, producing vibrant, minerally wines.
