Riesling Brauneberger Trocken “J” 2018 – Fritz Haag
Riesling Brauneberger Trocken “J” 2018 – Fritz Haag
The Brauneberger Riesling Trocken “J” is a special blend of selected grapes from the Grand Cru Juffer and Juffer Sonnenuhr vineyards. Produced in 1000 l oak barrels (fuder) and stainless steel tanks. Each wine is given the individual maceration time needed to obtain greater depth and structure. This Riesling Trocken comes from grapes from the Brauneberger vineyard, in the heart of the Moselle, so called for the characteristic brown soil present in these lands. Pure Riesling. After a short maceration in contact with the skins, the must undergoes a traditional fermentation in steel and the resulting wine ages in the same containers in which it maintains its fruity and fresh properties unaltered. Straw yellow in appearance, this white expresses clear fruity scents to the nose in which citrus and mango notes stand out alongside aromas of herbal essences and spices.
Fritz Haag
The Fritz Haag company is located in the heart of the Mittel Mosel, in Brauneberg. Already mentioned in a document dated 1605, it is also called “Dusemonder Hof”, from the Latin “dulcis mons”. The name “Dusemonder Hof” was that of the village of Brauneberg until 1925, when it was given its current name, in honor of its very famous and eponymous “grand cru”. It was Wilhelm Haag who purchased a good part of the “grand cru” over the years. He produces wines that combine finesse with depth and variety of aromas, and over time reveal all their character. The tradition is certain: cold fermentation in steel or wood; 60 hl average yield per hectare; use of natural yeasts. The Fritz Haag vineyard is called “Brauneberger Juffer”. From this vineyard all the different wines are produced, 12 in total: from the dry Riesling to the “Riesling Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr Auslese Goldkapsel”.
