Lambrusco Emilia Igt Le Ghiarelle 2017 - Poderi Fiorini
Lambrusco Emilia Igt Le Ghiarelle 2017 - Poderi Fiorini
It owes its name to the Podere 'Le Ghiarelle' where the terroir is sandy mixed with gravel as it is close to the Panaro river. This particularity has made these century-old vines immune to the attack of phylloxera, an insect that destroyed almost all the vineyards in Europe at the end of the 19th century. Therefore, having never been grafted onto American roots, this vineyard is called "ungrafted".
Fiorini Farms
The history of the Fiorini family begins in the Emilian plain, north of Modena between two small hamlets, Gargallo di Carpi and Ganaceto di Modena. For 100 years, the Fiorini family has dedicated its energies to the enhancement of the products of a territory that expresses all its richness and vigor through the products of the vine that has taken root here since time immemorial. In 2011, despite moving production to the hills at the Podere “Torre dei Nanni” in Savignano sul Panaro, the company maintained the 5 hectares of vineyard for the production of Lambrusco di Sorbara. The choice, in addition to the excellent quality of the land for the production of wines, is also linked to the strategic position it occupies, as it is the only town in the province of Modena where there are 3 protected designations of origin (DOP): Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro, Colli Bolognesi and Reno. Today the cellar equipment has been transferred from the historic site to the new site, adapting and integrating it in recent years, with more cutting-edge equipment and also expanding the number of steel containers for the production of sparkling and still wines. Attached to the cellar are the barrel cellar for the refinement of still red wines and the historic family vinegar cellar.
