Kerner Alto Adige Doc 2018 - Putzenhof
Kerner Alto Adige Doc 2018 - Putzenhof
Produced in only 40 bottles per year by the Putzenhof estate, this wine has a bright yellow color with greenish reflections with notes of spices and aromatic herbs on the nose. Medium-bodied, with flavors of apple, lime, white peach and wild herbs, this Kerner has a vibrant acidity and a notable minerality, with a long finish.
Putzenhof
In 1956, Viktoria and Johann Schweigkofler purchased the Putzenhof farm in San Giacomo/Laives. The vineyards were poorly maintained and in need of replacement, the building was dilapidated and the driveway was difficult to navigate. Behind this "potential", however, the Schweigkoflers recognized the "real potential": "The location at the foot of a porphyry wall facing south-west and the absolutely favorable climatic conditions for viticulture" - says grandson Roman Mottironi, who runs the company today. The owners have used the ideal conditions to transform - in three generations - a ruin into a successful winery with a vine area of 5.5 hectares cultivated as naturally as possible. For years, for example, no herbicides have been used. In this way, the raw material for a wide range of wines grows naturally and respectfully. According to the same principles, the Putzenhof farm cellar produces an interesting assortment of white wines (Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Kerner) and red wines (Lagrein, Pinot Noir and a Colli di Bolzano from Schiava, Lagrein and Pinot Noir). The annual production is 370 bottles.
