From the slow processing comes this still white wine, excellent with many dishes and loved by consumers and experts from all over the world. The grapes of this fantastic wine benefit from the rather cool climate for a gradual maturation and a steep volcanic terrain, with the presence of slate. These conditions allow the fruit to develop acidity and a mineral tone, which also characterize the finished product. Greenish yellow, clear and quite consistent. Wide bouquet, fruity aromas, from peach to pineapple, up to passion fruit and citrus notes. Over time, mineral and smoky hints are added that we find, together with the fruit, also on the palate. In the mouth it is perfectly balanced, juicy and mineral, with an excellent balance between structure and freshness.
Dr. Loosen
The Dr. Loosen winery has been in the family for more than 200 years. When Ernst Loosen took over in 1988, he realized that with ungrafted vines averaging 60 years of age in prime vineyards in the Middle Mosel, he had the raw material to create wines of stunning intensity and world class. To do this, Ernst drastically reduced the harvest and decided to use only a moderate amount of organic fertilizer. The vines have ideal exposure to the sun to achieve perfect ripeness. Cool nights, even in midsummer, maintain the characteristic acidity of the grapes, which is essential for a clean and lively Riesling. The river reflects the sun's rays and retains the heat, thus helping the grapes to ripen and protecting the vines from frost. The rocky slate soil and numerous rock outcrops also retain the heat of the day and ensure full ripeness. A thin topsoil forces the vines to dig deep into the soil for nutrients, producing vibrant, minerally wines.
