Barolo DOCG Castelletto 2016 - Mauro Veglio
Barolo DOCG Castelletto 2016 - Mauro Veglio
Castelletto is a vast area that winds between Monforte and the hamlet of Perno, on the border with Serralunga. About 4 hectares of vineyards are cultivated here. With the '96 vintage, Veglio was the first producer to use this name. On this terroir, the Barolo is more tannic and very fresh with balsamic, eucalyptus, mint and licorice hints. Ruby red color of good intensity. Intense and persuasive aroma, great harmony of red fruits and delicate rose petal. Very elegant tar with light notes of undergrowth, mint and licorice. Vigorous, full and balanced flavor. Great tannic persistence but with great succulence. Finish with notes of blackberry and blueberry jam.

The company cultivates about 14 hectares of vineyards distributed between La Morra and Monforte d'Alba, on the hills of the Langhe. Mauro and Daniela believe in a balanced wine, respectful of the territory and the typicality of origin, the result of careful selection work in the vineyard and equal care in the cellar. They produce four prestigious Barolo crus: Arborina, Gattera, Rocche dell'Annunziata and Castelletto. But they also vinify the great reds of Langa: Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto d'Alba. Mauro Veglio is one of the supporters of the strong change in style of traditional Barolo in the 90s, with his friend Elio Altare he founded the innovative group nicknamed "Barolo Boys".
