Barolo Bricco Fiasco is a historic Cru produced since 1978. The vines were planted in the 1940s, and today, they produce small, concentrated bunches: The calcareous soil gives the wine an elegant profile with sweet and silky tannins. The name "Fiasco" comes from the shape of the hill. This Barolo has superlative harmony and elegance: it gives indescribable aspects. Bricco Fiasco in fact perfectly shows the radiant personality of Castiglione. To the eye it presents itself as a ruby red color with garnet veins. Extremely fragrant: enveloping flowers and fruits, endless, with in particular a heart of red fruit. Rich and warm in the mouth, intensely fresh. Ripe tannins.
Azelia by Luigi Scavino
The Azelia Farm is located in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto, a small town in the heart of the Barolo production area. Founded in 1920 by Cavalier Lorenzo Scavino, Luigi's great-grandfather, the company initially represented a small farming reality. Luigi's grandfather, Alfonso, then decided to vinify the grapes from the estate's vineyards and began to bottle the wine produced. Now Luigi continues to apply his father's teachings, combining them with the right amount of modern techniques, without excluding respect for tradition, and exclusively vinifies grapes from estate-owned vineyards. The work in the vineyards is rigorous since the success of an excellent wine depends almost essentially on the careful work in the vineyard: all operations are carried out manually and scrupulous attention is paid to the green harvest, one of the most important methods for obtaining excellent quality bunches. The vineyards are located in Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d'Alba and Montelupo Albese for a vineyard surface area of 16 hectares, and a production of approximately 80,000 bottles per year.
