Aglianico Campi Taurasini Doc Vadantico 2014 - Hills of Castelfranci
Aglianico is a grape variety known since ancient times, originally from Magna Graecia and used in Central-Southern Italy at the time called Enotria. This wine is obtained from grapes coming from selected vineyards in the same production area of the more famous Taurasi and it is for this reason that it acquires the Doc with the specification of the Campi Taurasini sub-zone. Bright ruby red color. On the nose it recalls red fruits, such as black cherry and myrtle, licorice and sweet spices. On the palate it is soft and balanced with soft tannins that give it a long aromatic persistence. There are different biotypes cultivated but the characteristics are greatly conditioned by the soil and climate environment in which they are grown.
Hills of Castelfranci
Castelfranci is a small village in Alta Irpinia, 30 km from the capital Avellino. Thanks to its geographical position, the village is surrounded by lush spontaneous vegetation, vineyards that produce the grapes of the most classic Aglianico and Taurasi Docg wines, and olive groves. Immersed in the greenery of the typical vineyards of the area, the Cantina Colli di Castelfranci is a winery created by young people who are passionate about their work and who strongly believe in the potential of their land. The company was born from the union of the Gregorio-Colucci families, winemakers since always and great lovers of their land, who since 2002 have combined tradition and technology, making and bottling their own grapes and, with the construction of a modern cellar, producing refined wines intended exclusively for catering. The enthusiasm of the young company, the dedication to work and above all the high quality of the products, make the Cantina Colli di Castelfranci one of the most important companies in the production of fine wines in the Campania region.
