Castagno is a powerful wine, but at the same time harmonious and balanced, characterized by a remarkable structure, soft and elegant, with complex, deep and fascinating aromas of ripe red and black fruits, chocolate, coffee and white pepper, with nuances of blond tobacco, spices and tar. On the palate it offers velvety tannins and correct acidity, the taste is fruity and spicy, with exuberant notes of strawberries, blackberries and cherries, balsamic and mineral hints, grilled meat and cloves. The finish shows great character and personality, layered aftertaste, very long and persistent.

Fabrizio Dionisio

Fabrizio Dionisio has been producing high-quality limited-edition wines in Cortona since 2003, in his boutique company, dedicating himself to the symbolic grape variety of that territory, Syrah. Today the company produces 4 wines, all pure Syrah. Fabrizio dedicates himself to the production of his wines in two vineyards: the first farm, Castagno, is located on an intact hillside of Oligocene formation where, with a sandy soil rich in skeleton, the second farm, Poggio del Sole, is located on an undulating river terrace of Pleistocene formation where, with a medium-textured soil with a significant presence of clayey sand and silt, vineyards have been planted for a total surface area of approximately 12.5 hectares. The vineyards are grown by severely limiting, as they have always been, the use of chemical substances, therefore in an absolutely natural way. Every cultivation operation is carried out strictly by hand, with the sole exception of the spring pruning of the shoots. The harvest is also done manually, and the grapes are collected exclusively in small perforated crates, in order to preserve their integrity, and are then destemmed just as carefully, leaving the grapes intact.
